Spring has finally decided to grace us with its sunshine-filled presence (fingers crossed it doesn’t go anywhere!). And considering the especially brutal winter we’ve endured, we plan on making the spring and summer seasons extra memorable, and that means tracking down the coolest swimsuit on the market. From brand-new lines to awesome collabs to undercover gems, we’ve gathered up the coolest swim collections every beach-, pool-, or backyard-bound girl should know about. So take a read before you commit to your first bikini purchase—your dream suit may be not be on your radar quite yet.
How excited were we when our favorite party dress and festival wardrobe resource launched swimwear last month?! The line is full of edgy, rocked-out, but totally wearable styles that we’ve come to expect from Nasty Gal. We’re especially dying over the palm-tree emblazoned tank suit and pastel pink cutout tankini set. Does anyone else hear Coachella calling?
While we love the vintage aesthetic, the idea of gently-worn swimsuits isn’t quite as appealing. Thank goodness Modcloth offers an adorable line of ’50s- and ’60s-inspired pool-ready pieces. Think bustier-top bikinis and flattering high-waisted hipsters in super-cute retro prints like ginghams, polka dots, and florals.
This NYC-based swimwear line treats its mix-and-match swim offerings like chic womenswear separates. From ruffle-accented bandeau tops to pin-up girl-style bikinis to blouse-y tankini tops, Zinke offers fun and flattering pieces to wear on and off the beach.
Action sport style meets Hollywood cool in this swimwear line by former Tavik designer and Volcom intern Nicole Hanriot. Its bright fluorescent neoprene, sporty mesh overlays, and bold print details make us want to ride a wave—or lounge on a trendy rooftop pool. Either way, these eye-catching (and flattering) pieces would fit right in. Plus, in a match made in SoCal heaven, Beach Riot has also teamed with hipster-cool girl label Stone Cold Fox for an ultra-cool capsule collection—brace yourselves for sporty-chic bikinis with whimsical retro elements like scalloped edges, pom pom trims, and palm frond graphics.
Skate and surf brand RVCA launched their women’s swimwear collection just last year and this season’s mix and match separates are just as rad as its debut duds. Tropical southeast Asian-inspired prints, intricate embroidery, and hippie-chic fringe make classic triangle bikini tops, bandeaus, string bottoms, and surf-ready hipsters stand out from the crowd.
CA by Vitamin A
Laguna-based Amahlia Stevens, designer of the celeb-loved Vitamin A line, just launched a Coachella girl-inspired, cooler little sister collection named CA by vitamin A. The diffusion line of mix-and-match bikini separates and plunging one-piece suits is full of indie rocker stripes, psychedelic prints, and cheerful hues that work just as well on the festival grounds as they do on a sun-soaked beach.
Known for their boho-cool southern California aesthetic, Planet Blue launched their first swimwear collection, Blue Life, yesterday on April 2. Just in time for Coachella, the line is full of tie-dye, colorful paisley prints, creative crisscross straps, and strategic cutouts on mix-and-match bikini tops and low-back one-pieces.
