Want the perfect mix of casual and cool? Watch and learn.
The annual Cannes Film Festival is a place of unparalleled glamour. Thanks, perhaps, to the ocean breeze and serene lighting of the Côte d’Azur, the red carpets are always classically beautiful, much like the iconic stars (Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot) who walked them in years past.
Not to be outdone, two of Young Hollywood’s crown jewels showed up at Cannes in equally awesome ensembles:Jennifer LawrenceandKristen Stewart. Instead of opting for traditional glamour, they totally had fun in two-piece looks that were the perfect compromise of chic and cool.
Jennifer wore a midriff-baring two-piece look with metallic pointed-toe heels, textured hair, and a peachy lip for a photo call of the (crazily anticipated)Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. The landscape print, seen on the Christian Dior Spring Couture 2014 runways, lent this feminine look a graphic edge that was surprisingly fresh for the star, who has a distinct penchant for more classic gowns.
Kristen, meanwhile, opted for a similarly casual look (but with a sporty vibe!) from Chanel’s Spring runway while promoting her filmClouds of Sils Maria. The elastic band at the bottom of her top actually gives off the vibe of a sleeveless sweatshirt, not unlike her high-waisted slouchy pants. (Aren’t your sweats Chanel?) To elevate the look, she stepped into nude pointed-toe Louboutin pumps, but changed into the brand’s sneakers once the red carpet was over.
