White Is the New Black: How to Master Summer’s Hottest Color Trend

Forget your go-to all-black ensemble—this season, we’re leaning toward the other end of the color spectrum. That’s right, it’s time to break out your whites (if you haven’t already). And while we love a good contrasting color combo, there’s nothing chicer than going monochromatic. Here, three ways to make an all-white get-up work for you…without looking like a nurse, doctor, or any variety of medical professional.

Stick to the basics. A white shift dress paired with an oversized blazer is just about the easiest combo to throw on in the morning, and yet, it looks just about as fresh and fashion-forward as any complicated mixed-print outfit. We love the idea of wearing simple black sandals like Camila O. (above left), but you could also go with pumps, flats, or even your favorite sneaks. Just make sure you use a steamer or iron—wrinkles can be super noticeable on white.

Add an accent color. Nothing makes a monochromatic look pop like the addition of a contrasting hue. Britt W. (above middle) added a red heel and lip to her white separates, and the result is the perfect mix of retro and modern. White goes with just about anything, so feel free to get creative—you can even swap a bold color for a bold print.

16 Can’t-Miss Looks from This Weekend’s Firefly Festival

This weekend, we were among the 80,000 who flocked to the Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Delaware. And while we couldn’t have been more psyched to catch Outkast (they killed it), the Foo Fighters (throwback!), Band of Horses, and so many others, we were also pumped to take a peek at what all our fellow fans were wearing. Hey, it’s what we do.

So, what did we see? Besides muddy feet, Firefly was all about flower crowns (yes, they’re still a thing!), body paint, florals, and tie-dye. Click through to catch our 16 favorite street-style snaps, and don’t forget to tell us what you think in the comments.
